Central Vermont Hospital is a not-for-profit, 122-bed facility that provides comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and 24-hour emergency care to approximately 65,000 people living and working in 26 central Vermont communities. It is one of the largest employers in the central Vermont area. The hospital is the result of the merger, in 1968 of two local hospitals, Heaton Hospital and Barre City Hospital. Located on Fisher Road, in Berlin, Vermont, Central Vermont Hospital is the largest component of Central Vermont Medical Center.

A Board of Trustees comprised of 13 members of the local community and over 100 members of the Corporation governs Central Vermont Hospital. We have a Medical Staff of over 150 physicians, employ close to 1,000 full and part-time employees, and have 289 active volunteers who contributed a total of 27,842 hours to the hospital in 2001.

The goal of Central Vermont Hospital is to provide the services, technology, health education and health care providers necessary to meet the ongoing medical needs of the central Vermont community.
